A series of works made in elliptical form, all in the same format. Made of wood lacquered with uniform colors, the “Ellipses” are traversed by clear holes mechanically realized and arranged according to ever-changing rhythmic solutions. Primarily explored during 1967, the “Ellipses” represent a final phase of Fontana’s research that investigates crossing the boundary between sculpture and painting.
